The Kingdom of Bavaria was charted comprehensively for the first time in the 19th century. A land register for taxation purposes was charted from 1808 to 1853, resulting in approximately 22,000 large-format land-register maps. Among these extensive holdings, 2,400 cartographic maps are published here exclusively.
Further cartographic material, namely the plan table sheets of the "Steuerkataster-Kommission" (tax land-register committee) of 1808 to 1864, the framework sheets (i.e. land register maps, original land-register entries), detailed annexes and the land register maps of the region of Saar-Palatinate are available in electronic form together with the location sheets in the Bayerisches Hauptstaatsarchiv München (Bavaria Main Public Archives), Repertorienzimmer (repertory room).
This is a joint project of the Digital Library of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek and of the Landesamt für Digitalisierung, Breitband und Vermessung (LDBV - Agency for Digitisation, High-Speed Internet and Surveying).
