This location based services application offers a unique range of multimedia information about & around the famous "fairytale king" Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845-1886). The application includes fascinating augmented reality features like 3D pattern recognition, where digital objects appear on the iPhone screen on location and in real time. As an indispensable guide to the palaces, castles and all the events in the life of Ludwig II, this app is an absolute must-have for all Ludwig admirers and for tourists who take an interest in substantial historical information while "walking in the footsteps of the fairytale king." Almost all the app features are available offline as well.

Selected Features:

  • Information on 140 locations in Bavaria and Europe related to Ludwig II - either appearing live on your iPhone screen or easily accessed by MapView or ListView.
  • Detailed descriptions of places important to the king's life, streamlined for iPhone readers and adapted for multimedia inclusion
  • Extensive picture galleries featuring more than 400 photographs and illustrations, many of them historic.
  • Spoken quotes of witnesses of the period like Richard Wagner (1813-1883) or Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898) vividly demonstrate the impression the king made on people who met him in person. Of course there are direct quotes from Ludwig II, too.
  • Longer audio features on particular subjects or places, like the building history of Neuschwanstein Castle.
  • Location and context related links to video interviews with experts addressing architecture, politics, music, technology, Ludwig II's life and the myths that surround the king.
  • An augmented reality (AR) simulation of Ludwig II's former Winter Garden in the Munich Residence, which no longer exists, appearing in real time on the iPhone screen.
  • Augmented reality features presenting a 360 degree panorama view of the Throne Room and the Singers' Hall at Neuschwanstein Castle.
  • Admission ticket coming alive – digital thumbnails of the royal palaces: visitors of Linderhof Palace, Herrenchiemsee Palace and Neuschwanstein Castle can use this app for a "magic trick" that conjures digital thumbnails out of their admission tickets. When you point your iPhone on the ticket, a 3D simulation model of the palace you're visiting appears on the screen.
  • Virtual "gifts" at many of the places related to the life of the fairytale king, which can be stored in the digital scrapbook of the App.
  • "Join the king on his journey through the year" – Historical events on 147 days of the year appear as push messages on your iPhone.
