Journal for Bavarian Regional History
Journal for Bavarian Regional History
The Zeitschrift für Bayerische Landesgeschichte (ZBLG - Journal for Bavarian Regional History) was founded in 1928, one year after the foundation of the Kommission für Bayerische Landesgeschichte (Committee for Bavarian Regional History). It quickly became the central institution of Bavarian historical research. The journal has served as the publication medium for articles on the history of settlement, the etymology of location names, seigniory, as well as on individual epochs and persons of Bavaria's historical development. Moreover, fundamental articles by renowned regional historians were published in this journal, which articles still form part of every history student's required reading.
Usage Notes
The volumes 1 to 24 of the Zeitschrift für Bayerische Landesgeschichte are available in the form of images with the title data of the articles in full-text mode. Starting with volume 25 the additional option of a full-text search in the text of the articles is offered. The accessible text will be an uncorrected full text processed by OCR (optical character recognition), which remains hidden in the background. The hit list always leads the user back to the image of the original journal page.
Project Description
In agreement with the Kommission für Bayerische Landesgeschichte as the owner of the rights, the Munich Digitisation Centre of the Bavarian State Library has started digitising the ZBLG and making them available on the Internet. The digital version will keep a distance of five years to the current editions of the printed journal.
